Join JSI and Sonder Design Collective for a first in a series of mini 30-minute webinars sharing their initial findings from The Vaccine Data Discovery Research in Kenya. This Human-Centered Design study is a joint effort between the two organizations and the Ministry of Health in Kenya, aimed at understanding the challenges around collecting and using data for decision-making in delivering immunization services.
In this webinar, the team will deep dive into 3 insights around decision-making in the Kenya health system, covering perceptions around who is and is not a decision-maker, the context in which decisions are made, and how relevant information is accessed to inform these decisions.
For more information about the work, you can download the initial Kenya findings report.
SPEAKERS:
- Isaac Mugoya, Senior Technical Officer, Kenya - Immunization Center, JSI. Isaac has been working in immunization for more than three decades, supporting the Kenyan Ministry of Health in monitoring immunization programs, introducing new vaccines, and applying best practices.
- Emilia Klimiuk, Project Lead, Sonder Design Collective. Based in Lagos, Nigeria, Emilia is a designer and researcher specializing in applying Human-Centered Design methods to the health, microfinance, and agriculture sectors in low resource settings.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the NFID 2020 Annual Conference on Vaccinology Research will now be held virtually on June 18-19, 2020.
Don't miss this opportunity to join healthcare professionals, trainees, young investigators, government officials, researchers, and scientists along with representatives from the many disciplines involved in vaccinology to learn about the latest advances in the field.
Health systems in low- and middle-income countries are facing the urgent pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic. Health supply chain workers are essential - ensuring continuity of care as well as the availability of critical medical supplies. As global supply chains are disrupted and delayed by this pandemic, health supply chain workers risk being overlooked and ignored. Proper working conditions, including psychosocial support, must be made available to these workers. Now more than ever, enhanced coordination is needed at the global and country levels to pool resources, avoid duplication of efforts, and, above all, address the needs of the workers whose skills and commitment keep supply chains functioning.
Join us for a webinar co-hosted by Chemonics International and People that Deliver that will bring together health supply chain professionals from the public and private sectors to share insights and experiences on how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected their supply chain operations. The speakers will share practical resources, tools, and guidance utilized by their own organizations to ensure their supply chain workforce is safe, protected, and supported.

TechNet-21 is pleased to host a discussion with VillageReach and JSI on how supply chains can be adapted to be more responsive to the needs of under-served populations. Too often, vaccines and other essential health products are not available when and where they are needed, particularly in under-served populations. With COVID-19 disruptions to routine immunization leaving an estimated 80 million children at risk for diseases like measles, diphtheria and polio, ensuring vaccines can reach all children is more critical than ever. VillageReach has developed a four-step guide for governments and implementing partners to purposefully consider equity in supply chain design, with a particular focus on reaching four populations: the urban poor, people living in conflict settings, remote or rural populations and migrants. Join us for a review of the guidance, and an example from JSI’s work of what these adaptations can look like in practice.
SPEAKERS:
· Tapiwa Mukwashi, Senior Manager, Supply Chain, VillageReach. Tapiwa has over 15 years of experience in public and private sector supply chains, and currently leads VillageReach’s Supply Chain for Community Health Workers program, implemented in partnership with Last Mile Health in Liberia.
· Mariam Zameer, Manager, Health Systems, VillageReach. Mariam provides technical assistance on designing supply chains and building strong health systems. She is interested in a focus on equity to improve health systems for the most vulnerable, and health financing.
· Wendy Prosser, Senior Technical Officer - Supply Chain, Immunization Center, JSI. Wendy provides technical assistance and strategic guidance on the immunization supply chain across JSI’s country teams to improve the design and management of the supply chain, create processes for data use for decision making, and apply global best practices to the country context.

The COVID-19 pandemic is exposing the deep inequities that undermine global health, especially gender inequities impacting women front line health and care workers. In the Year of the Nurse and Midwife, few health and care workers (many of whom are women) have safe and decent working conditions, appropriate protection and equal and timely pay. How many decision makers in health systems are women? Do we collect sufficient data and evidence to understand the implications of COVID-19 on female health workers? Speakers in this session will share the perspectives of female health workers during this pandemic, and review lessons learnt from previous large-scale outbreaks – how health systems lose when gender equality is ignored, what can be done better, and how we all may gain by applying a gender lens. This event is co-sponsored by the Global Health Centre, Women in Global Health, and GENDRO.

The COVID-19 pandemic is claiming lives across the globe and causing disruption to the delivery of primary health care services. A critical concern is that the interruption of immunization services poses a major risk for secondary outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases (VPD). This spotlight on vaccines highlights the importance of routine immunisation systems and calls to question the preparedness of health systems around the world.
In this online webinar, featuring speakers from Civil Society, Gavi and the WHO, we will identify lessons learnt from strengthening health systems and routine immunisation, reflect on adaptive approaches to maintain routine immunisation during the pandemic and identify the necessary commitments from country partners to achieve equitable access to vaccines against both known and novel pathogens.
